I'm going to call and order one or the other next week, so lets here your experiences with either of them. I talked to a tech from Direct the other day who was telling me that they have (if I remember correctly) something like 170 hd channels as of 9/15/07, including hd locals. Then again, I get a discount on Dish, so let me know the pros and cons of either. Thanks guys,
Rick

I used to have Dish, I liked it okay, never had any problems with it (10 years ago, not sure how it is now, but I've heard good things).
I currently have Direct TV (Vinny had it when I moved in there in 2000). I actually like it better, and their customer service is excellent! A Dish Network salesman stopped by the house recently and offered me a better deal than Direct TV so I called Direct TV, and not only did they match what Dish was offering, but they are giving me a FREE DVR and coming out to install it in my bedroom (currently don't have Direct TV in there). So I'll have a DRV in the living room and my bedroom, $44.00 a month, plus free movie stations for six months.
I always have great reception, unless there's a bad storm, then sometimes I won't get a signal (rare). If that happens though, I just watch something that is taped (which I usually do that anyway, I HATE commercials!).

I would go with Direct TV I have been with them for 12 years now and haven't any problems. Also if you are with them and stay in good standings for x amount of time (I beleive 1 year) you can get rebates or free stuff. They wont tell you that, you have to ask for it. Free stuff being HD DVR's or free premium channels, free upgrades etc... They also have the NFL direct ticket if your a football fan.

My parents had Dish network for a while, but my Dad just couldn't take their commercials anymore. I have NEVER seen anyone advertise themselves in my life. They switched to to DirecTV and like it 10x better!

Direct TV Rocks!
I received a deal just like Holly, but got a non-DVR for the second room at 39.95 per month.

I have had DTV for 6 years. I love it! They say there will be 150 hd channels this fall:D
A friend had DTV, then switched to Dish for a better deal. Six months later he bought out his one year contract with Dish to go with Direct TV again.

i called dish to ask them a question, and of course direct tv copied their # except 888 so i had dialed the wrong #
they couldn't come close to the deal that i'm getting with dish network
i've got tv in 4 rooms plus dvr in all 4 with every available channel and every available movie channel for $118 after taxes and everything
they couldn't hardly get their with 4 rooms without movie channels

If you want Direct TV and already have Zoomtown with Cincinnati Bell, you can order DTV through Cincinnati Bell and save another $6.00 per month.
