Well we bought Josh's 351w that is listed in the for sale section. Here is what he wrote....

1970 block and heads (no exhaust lumps) machine work done by bischoff..It is 30 over with 9.5.1 forged pistons balanced rotating asembly 500 lift lunati cam..ported heads and edelbrock performer intake .. 2 inch spacer..750 holley 4150 manuel secondary carb..ford motorsport valve covers..motorsport wires alt and brackets this is a very strong motor has less than 100 miles on it needs new valve springs there is absolutly no damage just floats before it gets out of its rpm band

Came with a bunch of stuff. The valve springs are Edlebrock singles and still have the stock rocker arms on them. We are thinking of switching the springs are rockers but don't know with what yet since the valves are floating due to the springs. (still new to the pushrod, lack of sensors game)

We also picked up a dual sump pan off Bryan for the swap but not sure on what pick up to use. The motor does have a high volume pump in it and I would hate to suck the stock dual sump dry. Any ideas?

We are thinking about trying stock vert mounts to lower the engine a bit but my use some solid lowering mounts instead. Anybody have any experience with either?

any and all info on this beast will be greatfully appreciated. Thanks Bob

HPM makes drop mounts that lower it 3/4's of an inch.

Everything I have run with stock replacment oil pump. I have heard of people having problems with high volume or high pressure oil pumps. What kind of cam is it will determine what kind of valve springs to run.

high volume regular pressure is what you want.also use the pick up recomended for that pan.you also will have a hard time fitting the oil pan over the steering rack if you use the drop mounts.i just did a 408 into a fox.use the convertable mounts.they'll work great.

that sits in there pretty nice actually. I think we might try the vert mounts first and see how it sits.

the drop mounts only take it down 3/4 of an inch but then you run into the oil pan vs the rack sway bar and if your using long tubes there real close to the pavement.stick with the vert mounts and any questions feel free to message me.

sway bar is gone and the rack may be a factory manual soon. Don't know if we will keep the PS.

Thats one of the good blocks Bob. Isn't that a small cam for that motor? Any plans for a stroker?

no plans on a stroker. Its plenty for what we want now. I have no idea on what cam it exactly is. I'm going to look into it some more though. I was thinking a little 100 shot or so down the road or mabey do another turbo build but we shall see.

are they the drop mounts? the regular solid mounts are the same height as the convertable mounts.

Not completely sure, I know they are HPM's though.

Hey Bob...i actually had an '83 hatch with a 351W....i didn't put the engine in myself, but it had solid motor mounts and was carbureted. It fit under the stock hood, but it only had a Performer intake (not even an RPM....which helped keep the height down, but probaby the HP down too..lol) and one of those cheap Edelbrock triangular breathers that sits down real close to the carb, and no carb spacers or anything like that. At the time i also ran a small diameter flex fan because i was worried that the fan blades would hit the hood, but an electric fan would be even better.

I don't know if that helps since you really don't wanna use a base model Performer intake..

what type of long tubes is everyone running with 351 swaps? I've seen some headmans for $180 I think and some BBKs for about twice as much.

I ran the BBK's, they're great headers. Stay away from hedman!!

I run The Hooker Super Comps but the mounting adapter sucks....Spend the money once and buy Kooks
