Hello All !! I finally figured out the pic thing, So I can get some on here to show my progress.. I'm still undecided on what motor combo, but I know it's going to have a built AOD, So this will allow me a decent gear with decent milage on the freeway. As you can see by the pics, so far I've managed to get the old 3.8/c-5 out of it, And later today will start the power washing, and getting rid of unused wiring.. I'll try to keep up on posting progress.. And a big THANKS to everyone who gave advice in leading me in the right direction.

Just an update... Took the motor to the shop to be built, still unsure what exactly is being done, I do know that it's going .030 over, and some major head work, But still undecided on the cam, intake, carb and such. I'll keep posting as I make progress!!!

I'm chomping at the bit waiting for the engine build to be done, so I'm trying to keep myself occupied with little tasks, did some trim painting (that needed done)... I think it turned out good, That black trim on the 4eyes really sets it off( in my opinion anyway).. will update again when I'm bored LOL :bigthumb

So for now it's the little things, I found a set of ten holes, which is what I have been searching for ( call me old school, but I think they are the best looking factory rim) any way they were a little rough, so I got carried away and stripped all the clearcoat and did a polish job on them. it only took about 4 hours to do one wheel, so by the time the motor is ready I should have them all done. so heres a before and after shot....Hope you like em! :bigthumb

Been a while since I've updated this, So I'll try to make it short LOL
Got the motor finished, went .040 over, f cam, ported e-7's, Performer RPM intake. This will be backed by an AOD with a 2800 stall, and 4.10's.
Had new tires mounted, BFG's 275/60/15's out back and 215/65/15's on the nose ( gives a good fat skinny look IMO) on polished 10 holes. Motor and tranny installed, justa few odds and ends ( carb, tranny lines and cooler mounted, all the little stuff LOL) and she'll be ready for the shows and the track :D
A big shout out to Rich and Mike Bell for parts and tons of guidance :bigthumb

It can be wired up to run, but there will be no advance, so it definately isn't the best choice. The easiest thing to do is get one for an 85 mustang, then you have a duraspark with a steel gear. You can get one for about $50 at Oreilly's.

The Dizzy is out of an 85 GT. I'm a little confused as to why your saying it won't work??
If someone could fill me in I would appreciate it :bigthumb

That is a TFI distributor, like one that would work with an EFI engine. The one you need has a pigtail coming out of the housing with a round plug instead of the big plug on the housing. The TFI style like you have has the advance controlled by the computer. It is possible to wire it to run , but timing will remain static(not good). BTW that is not out of an 85, truly your best option is to go buy a reman for an 85 mustang, you will also need to get a duraspark box and wiring or just buy an aftermarket ignition box. Hope that helps.

Well today will tell the tale!!! since the last update ( actually did it all in the past 2 days) Installed the fuel lines, regulator, new dizzy, radiator, tranny cooler, carb, headers, h-pipe, drive shaft, heater hoses, alternator, a/c compressor, pulleys, starter, and did some vacuum line running and blocking. Looks like tomorrow morning I'll pick up my new battery and finish running the tranny lines and with some luck she'll be running tomorrow afternoon
John (bbfstanger) is coming over Sunday to do the TV cable thing, so with any luck I'll be taking my first spin around the block ( no mufflers of course) Sunday afternoon!!!!!!!!!

Well a little more to update, I put the new carb on. A little tweaking and she is running good, I had to make a new bracket for the TV cable out of some flat bar aluminum, and I seem to have it pretty close. I think I need to make a piece out of the same stuff to increase the range on the throttle linkage, I don't think I'm getting the TV cable to pull all the way @ WOT. I did drive it around yesterday ( Just on the back roads) I haven't got my tags for it yet, But did put about 10 miles on it. The next thing after the flowtube/mufflers, and a little more tweaking will be to change the rear end. Those 3.08's just aren't going to cut it LOL. I will say though, that from about 20 MPH it pulls like a raped ape!!!! I did do one idle from a dead stop launch and it surprised me pretty good, She laid about 80 ft of my new tires ( one wheel for the first 25-30 ft then both LOL).
I'll keep updating as she comes along!!!

A BIG THANKS TO John (bbfstanger)!!! He did some tweaking and tuning for me today, And she is running like a whole different ANIMAL!!!!!!

A few pics from her first road trip.. Went over 700 miles in 4 days.. Managed 24+ MPG through the mountains and all !!!! I found her sweet spot to be around 75-80 MPH turning about 1800 revs.. Good trip, It was just me getting away. No wife, kids, worries, Or cares.. Just a good weekend!!!

Well Fellows !!!! I got my 8.8 with 4.10's. The 7.5 with 2.73's had to GO !!! LOL I drove to Ft. Wayne In. to get it, Left yesterday @ 3:30 pm, Drove to Piqua to take Mark ( powerage) the tailpipes he bought from me. I then headed to Indiana, I got home at about 10:00 pm, 318 miles total.. The guy I got the rear end from was really cool, He had a 91 hatch, 408, C4, 8.80 sec car!!!!!!
I gave him one of our cards from the Dyno Day ( which reminds me, who has more of them??? I have given about 25 of them since then..) So I'm hoping he'll join up..

Well it's been a little like Christmas around here the past few days, And it should continue for a few more !!!!!!
For those that don't know, I am building a 408 backed with an AOD with a 3600 converter, I'm shooting for 11.0's on motor, And we'll see on a 200 shot...

So far I have the complete fuel system, the roll cage, the manual rack, and drive shaft hoop, And in transit is my K-member, A-arms, coil overs, frame ties, upper and lower control arms, And harness !!!!!!

Well the GOOD NEWS was !!!! I ordered a QA1 K-member, control arms, coil overs, etc. Well I open the box from (My new best friend LOL) the UPS man, and low and behold everything in the box is UPR!!!!!...

Well just a small update, But the cage is in !!!

I think it turned out EXCELLENT !!!
The pics suck I took them with my new phone, And as soon as I get it home and clean it up !!!
An I didn't take pics yet, But the Sub-Frames are also done !!!

The next step is the K-member and Fuel system in and then things should pick up SPEED !!!

John and I managed to get the front end all buttoned up and it sitting back on wheels !!! LOL

We got the Windsor all tore apart and ready for some Dick work !!!

I cleaned the interior back out in prep to paint the Cage so I can put the interior back in !!!

Dropped the Motor off at Dick's this morning !!! Crank checked out fine, Just needs a polish ... More then likely going with Eagle rods, And the prelim check of the block says it will need to be .040 over ... Back on the hunt for pistons !!! Good thing I didn't buy the .030 last week !!! LOL

I got started on painting the roll bar/cage over the weekend ... I'm using the Hammered Metal paint, And so far I'm liking it :lol: Hoping to have the interior done before the weekend and get the rear upper and lowers, springs in this weekend !!! The engine should be ready for assy. in the next 2 weeks !!!

We could have been a little farther along but I need to find a 302 cam retainer !!! According to Comp (and our test fit) either you have to grind the ears off the 351 one or use a 302 piece for the timing set to clear ... Oh Well LOL
