The Capristang Thang!!

I just got this off a friend for cheap. Its a 79 capri with a 89 body kit and interior, but it still has the capri dash. Before I got it there was a windsor cramed in it which slammed it to the ground but from what I was told and by the tires it would smoke'em hardcore. It has a c4 in it with a hellacious stall converter, but im not sure if im goin to keep it an automatic or not. I am lookin to put a windsor back in it but I will prolly get ahold of a 302 for cheap so which ever I find first. The rearend will prolly go soon. I need to put new brakes, rotors and all that good stuff on it. Ok now here is the bad part, the frame rails........What frame rails!! I had to get some off another car which was a lot easier that I thought thanks to Deckerent, who is a pretty cool guy for helpin me out. Jesse and I got them out in a few days and me an my cousin already got one on and ready to go now just to get the other one on. I have a bunch of stuff ahead of me and I have never done any of this before so if anyone can give tips they will be highly appreciated, and no wise cracks please keep them to urself!!

Well I was going to post pics but i havent figured out how yet so I am just going to wait until I have a few more so I will post pics when I get done with more of the car.

Congrats on the new project. You'll be amazed at how much you'll learn doing all the work yourself. BTW if you still have the original spindles on the car I have a complete brake setup w/ brand new cross drilled rotors I'll make you a nice deal on.

Ok I fixed it and I just got the other crappy frame rail off and am putting the new one in place!!

got the other one in place now to drop the car down and use the k member to line them up to weld im just one step closer to never gettin this thing done when i want it done.

so.....my brain needs rebuilt but you dont hear me complaining, but yeah thanks for the help yesterday man hopefully by next week the front end will be done and ready for a motor......as soon as I get one. And then on to the back of the car!!!!

no prob, you need to trim the inner fenderwells that are still attached to the frame and the car so they wont interfere with each other while lining up the rails... and use a grinder to clean off all the old left over spot welds and the areas that will be welded... so you dont have to hammer the crap outta the rails when you fit them in place. if you need my angle grinder lemme know. I may have dad halfway talked into a 110 mig here soon so you may not have to pay that guy to do it... you can just own me gas and wire :D

I will call Mike in milford to see if he still has the exhaust for the car, and i will call about that other 8.8 that Mikey has.

Alrighty now I have finally got a motor and trans, its a 302 out of a grand marquis wagon and and a parts car a 83-84 notch with a cage and some extra heads and racing seats........I cant wait to put something together!!!!!!!!:bounce:

Yippy Skippy I was bored the other night and pumped up on the dew and ripped the motor apart. YAY!!!! I had no clue what to do so I winged it. It was awesome it took me about 5 hours but I took my time so I did mess anything up. I just need to do a few things and then BAMM it will be time to put it back together. I got the block clean and discovered that its a XXX block and I hear thats pretty good. I dont really know what that means but I will go with it. I got my H.O. pistons cleaned and my E7 heads soaking in thinner and jesse is supposed to be cleaning the cam. All I need now is a gasket kit and Boom it will be time to rebuild the beast. Damn I can't wait!!!!:bounce:

Well I just picked up the cam from jesse. It aint to shabby but it will work for me and I got my crane fireball ignition box so now I cant start this thing when the time comes which will hopefully be real soon. HURRAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

More than likely its no longer in existence... when rick and I went to see the coupe and engine, the engine/trans were not in the car. they came with the coupe when the guy he got it off of got it.

Was hoping to get this thing done enough to make it to the cruise in but I don't think it will be done. But I will make it to a cruise in before winter if it kills me. I will begin putting the engine back together this week though, but I dought it will be done within the next week, hopefully the week after next............I Hope!!!!
