That was a great article! The reporter guy interviewed me a couple of times on race day and then called me on my cell twice yesterday. Everything was pretty accurate, except I didn't get to make a victory lap because I could not keep the camaro running. I did get myself buckled in, helmet on, but it would not stay running and I know it was over 110 degrees in that car, I'm a sissy, I was melting, and with cameras RIGHT in my face, I just wanted to get out of that thing and hang with the crew!
Wow, unbelievable. This is SO friggin awesome!

i think we need to call our local news to,i bet they would be quick to do a storie on it.hmmm:popcorn:
We take our Cub Scouts to Channel 12's news room... they showed us around and they have big 8x10 photos of all the "news people"... and they say "Rob and Kit, Tim"... Max is like "What about John and Anna"? She's like, you must get up early! yep, 6am with his daddy every day!
ANYWHO!
I have an in with the news director, he's who set up our visit. I'm sure I can put a bug in their ear, THIS WOULD BE AN AWESOME STORY FOR LOCAL NEWS!
They would probably want to interview Holly, I don't think they can plagerize (sp?) the Kansas City article.
It's Holly's call....

Well, they wouldn't give us the times. We did lose one race because we broke out, even though Matt let off at the 1000' mark or before. They said we went a 10.3 @ 142? Matt couldn't believe it, and we were all a little amazed. It would have been nice to see some of the times for sure. Matt or Kelly, correct me on these times if I am wrong.

What I heard was (and no one was really talking) that our first pass that we put six cars on the Camaro was a 10.00 pass. The pass we "broke out" on was 141 mph pass and according to Nate we were, "closer to a nine second pass than a 10.50 pass."
All I know is that our car had a great tune that was probably faster than the 10.50 they wanted. Matt did an excellent job of driving a nine second car to 10.50 to keep them happy. Negotiating an all out pass really helped us, because we had more car than they had. The Camaro was not slow by any means, and I think their driver was playing with us on a few passes because the info didn't add up. I also think the Camaro was a high 9 to low 10 second car.

The car went 9.87 @ 137 at Kil Kare the day before we left town.
I'm sure the Mustang is stupid fast! Keep in mind that Matt Johnson has some huge nuts! He made the last four of the seven passes with NO REAR BRAKES! We had a leak and couldn't fix it. The front brakes got progressively worse with each pass and were pretty much glowing. Before the last pass, Matt and I discussed putting the car in the wall if he had to to get it stopped. He thought he had enough room to shut it down one more time, but felt comfortable riding it out on the wall if he had to. We wanted to bring the car back home, we didn't care if it was pretty or not and MAtt's safety was the most important thing.
On the last pass, the passenger side front caliper hung. We though we had a fire when he returned to the starting line!

Craigmatt drove the hell out of that car, i was a little skepticle after seeing it make passes at tristate, but after seeing him drive at the show i don't think theres a guy out there that could have did what he did.he treed the hell out of the other guy,and the other guy wasn't no slouch he was on it to.BIG props to matt johnson:bigthumb

Great article! I really wanted to go, but couldn't make it and the writer of that article did a fantastic job of making it seem like I was there. Congrats to all of you, enjoy the satisfaction of your hard work. And Matt, way to drive, especially with brake issues!
