my buddy had one. the yamaha engines are pretty cool. it was fun to drive a 5 speed taurus. But I think changing the plugs on it sucks like a Grand Am

All I know is Ackbar had one and they ruled. It was undefeated in street races and hell even one night a chick flashed us. Nothing like spanking ur bf's cavy and then his gf hanging out the window giving us a fly by flash. THE ONE FREAKING TIME THE CAMERA WASN'T ROLLING!!!

Thye are decent. It's not a yamaha engine in 96+. It's a duratec V8. Plus they stoped the 5 speed after 95 too. Just like any car it has it's little issues, but if taken care of they are great cars. If you get one do an exhaust and intake it makes a world of difference.

found this too

Actually that duratech v8 was still designed by yamaha. And that make only came in an auto.Still a good ride though.Nice on the highway.

The only experience i have with them is getting smoked twice on two different occasions. Once i was in my bone stock '88 GT and he destroyed me from the line and i never had a chance, but this car was supercharged. The second was out on 32 towards Mt. Orab in my coupe i have now...i killed him until about 100mph and started to run out of gear...after that he just drove away like i was cruising.

There is a company called bittersweet turbo...they do custom turbo kits for sho's...my buddy was gonna buy one from them but he decided to spend his money elsewhere...they do some badass kits for yamaha engine equipped sho's

nice cars. SHOs are fun. i have a 93 5spd and my dad has a 99. if you get it have the cams welded(if they have not been already) they come apart and it gets messy. the 99 isn't too bad. nice ride. looks nice. and it runs a little better since it got flashed, new air filter, and the 3rd cat taken off lol.

also, although it would be cool to have a s/c-ed or turboed one...it's very crammed in the engine bay and very hot already. i wouldn't risk it, but that's just my opinion

x 2....... make sure to have the cams welded to the cam gears
