I ran across this pic in an old 'stang mag...no idea how i never saw this before but it's too cool not to post. I've seen 10 holes narrowed for skinnies but never Ponys. The article says they used motorcycle tires since nobody makes a 16'' skinny...that's awesome!

Ive seen it done and it looks cool as hell, but Im a bit leery about using a tire for a motorcycle on a car.

Why not? Almost all motorcycle tires are Z rated and could put up with the abuse.....although the load rating might be a bit questionable.

I'd say load rating is the big issue, but with there being 2 tires..i dunno. I might not trust them for driving through potholes but they should be just as sturdy as pepboys tires.

I'm pretty sure they make sixteen inch skinnies now. I know they make seventeens. That article is OLD!
What's ironic is, I was just telling someone about that recently. I think I know where I could get that cutting done...

A few months ago we were going to have weldcraft make are ponys on the front skinnys with motorcycle tires. And stretch the back ponys to a 16x15 with some big tires. They stretch the back of the rim and to tubb the car you dont have to cut the rearend. But we get a deal on a set of draglite skinnys. Then just bought a set of 15x15 draglites for the back and 33x19.5 tires with the 9" ford set up.

Huh, i thought Weldcraft was no more....that's cool. I called them once about having 10 holes widened to 9'' out back but it's pretty expensive.

LOL dude if you're anywhere around Eastgate and you see skinnies, there's probably a 9 out of 10 chance that they're Pepboys tires on the front

To make the ponys 16x10 I think they told us $225 each

I found another better pic of the car, but it doesn't give as good of a profile. It shows how easy it would be to overlook them though...total sleeper.

That is a decent price.
I think I might need to see if they can do that on my '06 V6 Mustang wheels. :D
