My water pump just went out on my car and im gonna basicly replace everything in the cooling system and was wondering what Degree thermostat i should use. I was told if you use 160 degee it leaves the car in a open loop and the computer system doesn't ever get the reading that the engine is actually at running temp and causes performace loss. So i was wondering if i should just use around a 180-195 or if i use a 160 it really doesn't make that much of a difference.
Thanks

If it is a street car I would use a stock heat thermostat. It would go into closed loop and get better millage and your heat would work. When you floor the car it goes into open loop anyway.

i use a 180 in my car. its daily driven. heats works great with no over heating problem and no power loss or anything. i was told that the 180 was the best one. the 160 will make you car run rich is another thing i was told.
