Thats pretty funny, but had to quit watching before it ended. I don't like to watch innocent people get humiliated. At least the guy has a job. Rule #1 is don't expect a guy who sells parts at Autozone to be a certified mechanic....he's a retailer, not a mechanic. Some of them have some general automotive knowhow, but not necessarily any more than the next car guy does. Most of those guys fill out an application and bingo, employment.

Just a little tidbit, some of them are certified. My hubby used to manage one and they all had to get ase certified for parts retail. I don't think it's a hard test to pass considering. I went into the local one awhile back, hubby called ahead and had my harmonic balancer set out for me. I went in and these chicks helped me and I told them I was here to pick it up and they told me that I could rent one. I was like "are you sure??" and they said "oh ya, we rent all the tools!" that's when I lost respect for these chicks. I told them were it was and that I would just "buy" it.

I think I would be forced to tell the girl to have her father come down and see the test himself. I know that the counter guys are not the smarted when it comes to cars, but for someone to purposely TRY to make them look like idiots just borders on pure meanness.

I agree. The girls are just snotty little bitches. I hate people like that. The guy was just doing his job, and those little whores find it funny to put him on the internet to make fun of him.

FWIW, I've found a few very good people at Autozone and Advance recently. Yeah, there's a few people that aren't the sharpest tools in the shed, but most of them are perfectly capable. I had a guy at the one in Deerfield Township today that tested my new (remanufactured) alternator before I left the store to make sure that it was good...that's pretty good customer service, IMO (and, they were the only auto parts store near me, including Smythe and NAPA, that had an alternator for my Z28 in stock). Also, I've been very impressed with the guys at the Advance in Lincoln Heights...every bit as competent as the people at Smythe.
