picked up my engine last nite, going today to tear it apart, its been sitting for a while... so im curious.

What do i have to do to make those heads work properly on a 302 in a mustang with a 5-speed?

what can I do to the heads?

Will I need different length pushrods? Will BBK 1 5/8 shorties work?

I plan to use an E-cam, 24# injectors, 70 or 75mm throttlebody 70mm? mass air sensor, good set of valvesprings, hardened pushrods, some decent lifters, forged pistons and chromemoly rings (just in case;) ) and maybe some h-rods, and some roller rockers

my block will probably get punched 30 over just for safety...

anything i am missing? anything recommended??

any and all input will be appreciated... the p-motors are new to me...

well, took the explorer motor apart and was pleasantly surprised.... yeah... the block and internals are total garbage... 2 rods let loose... talk about mass carnage... ill post up some pics soon... its some bad shit, lol!

2 pistons are completely destroyed, and i only found one of the two rods, but the one i found was twisted, broken, chewed, and ten kinds of mangled, also found some very interesting shaped rod caps... man that motor was a sludgy bitch!

by the time you rebuild the motor you will have more in it than you could have bought a good low mile complete pmotor and just dropped it in and been done, trust me i've balanced both ideas out.it's way cheaper to have bought a complete motor vr's building one.either way it will run better than an e7 headed motor

have the heads milled down a little for compression and a lite port job(clean up)

My plan was to find a low mileage P engine and sell the heads to offset some of the price of the engine itself, then use my 351 heads on that block with my cam....now i just have to make all that happen..lol

P heads would make more power than 351 heads if there stock d00E heads

well regardless, i would put more in the motor than i got it for anyway, even if it was a cheap runner. that was the plan. but i figure, since i got the engine for free, im not out much right now.

Who on here can port my p-heads and match the intake to them as well for a good price?

With the P-motor deals I've kind of learned that you get
what you pay for... and I prefer to get the low mileage ones....
;)

Good Luck though... I'm very pleased with my results.... :cool2:
