Ok so I have had the car for over a year now and it's still not close to running, but man this stuff gets expensive. While I'm still saving $$ and slowly getting engine parts ready to assemble, I've been messing around a little bit with the chassis/body, and none of this would be done if not for the help of my buddy Tim. Heres a few before and after pics, still needs a lot of bodywork and still needs some reinforcements to the cage/mounting, but looks better than when I got it.

Hey, that looks like fun, good luck with your build man sure it will look killer.

most of the real bad spots have been sheet metal patch welded, smoothed (kinda!!) with duraglass and undercoated or rustoleum flat blacked for now.

some more...notice the antenna mount gone and the fuel tank door gone, I really want to do something other than the factory cowl with this car too since I am not running any wipers/motor and the car shouldn't really see rain. Been thinking about hiding electronics in there and making a removable cover from painted plexiglass or lexan.

The cage is an 8pt. for now, but many mods will be done to that, I think at almost every point I am going to reinforce the underside as well with a plate and drill and bolt them together, I just don't trust one plate alone welded to the thin shell of the car. Probably be a while for more pics because I really want to focus on getting the motor assembled and placed in the car before anything else.

...through the rear window, will look much better with racing buckets and harnesses! Hopefully the crossbar height will be good for harness mounts, but if not some custom tubing will make it work.

:( sadly no progress has been made to take pics of...just threw some $$ down on engine parts and hardware (getting closer to putting it together, don't need much more!) so I am trying to pay off some bills and working a lot after that hit. But I did manage to buy a nice 12 gal. fuel cell that will be here soon so I figure it shouldn't cost much more to install that, just a little sheet metal and some plumbing. So bear with me, I did start this thread by saying SLOW progress on my 85...;)

I'll trade you my soul for your doors :(

You don't want to do that, they probably have the same problem as yours (rusted out bottoms) but it's just not visable in the pics!
