There was a thread on here not long ago where the guys were talking about what type of gun they prefer. I have looked back, but can't find it. Does anyone remember it and can you tell me where it is?

thanks, Cathy

I think the 1st one you mentioned is where it started but there was another discussion on why they liked certain types. I seem to remember someone referencing the xmas list but it went into more detail on types.

Yep, I've been testing out different ones trying to find something I'm comfortable with. Have discovered I am a big weeny and only like small caliber ones. Also having an issue that apparently I have small hands and that pretty much eliminates any revolver I've tried. I am going back to Shooters tonite, the guy there is bringing in one of his own for me to try before I buy.

S&W make great handguns, I have 2 of them but you might also look into a sub-compact mode as well some of the Colt's are really nice.

Good luck on what ever you buy and post a picture once you get it!

I wound up getting a S&W Walther P-22. I really liked it, they tell me it's pretty much foolproof on jamming, etc., a great beginner gun. I've shot several different guns over the past few weeks. My daughter loves her .38 special snub nose revolver, she wouldn't have anything else, but it made my teeth hurt when I fired it!! I told you I was a wimp! 9mm was definately out, the .45 tries to knock me down! Nothing else was comfortable to me. Now if I could only schedule my CC class around this racing!!

Best gun I ever owned? A Stevens, 20 ga. double barrel shotgun. God, I wish I had never let it go.

My fav was my first one I bought with my own money. A beretta 92 FS. 9mm 15 rd mags, I picked it cause that is what the cops were carrying at the time. This was 15 years ago when I turned 21. That is when I started reloading 9mm to save money. Had a blast with that one. Only problem was the locking block. Broke it once. Beretta replaced the whole barrel and sent the gun back to me with 2 new 15 round mags. No charge. That was cool. I wound up selling it for 650. with 5 factory 15 round mags.

just as a heads up the P22s are wicked picky on ammo!!!!!!
CCI Mini Mag ammo seems to keep the P22 rolling.

You will def want to go with a bigger caliber once you start carrying. Did u look into the Walther PPK .380? What models did u shoot in 9mm and .45? Those calibers are typically light in recoil.

Most .22s are picky on ammo. Thank goodness my Ruger 10-22 likes the cheap stuff.

If you want a small pistol that's easy to carry and still have a decent caliber, look at the Kahr PM9 or PM40.

They're much smaller than a Glock 26 or 27.

I shot a PM9 very light and small would be real easy to carry. They are very light and pack a punch like the lightweight revolvers.

I have never shot an actual PPK but I have shot the Bersa and Sig version and I don't think they me that great of a choice if she has issues with recoil. I found my Bersa to have more recoil than my Taurus PT92 (both of which belong to Pops now). Damn I need to buy a new gun. Personally I looking at either a Taurus PT145 or a small Taurus or smith revolver in .357 for a carry piece.

I have shot the bersas and sig .380s they didnt have too much recoil.

I kind of think that the .380 has nearly as much recoil as a 9mm and the small frame of the PPK style guns doesn't do much to calm it.

Remember that PPK style pistols are heavy.

When someone uses this pistol to protect themselves, they will not feel recoil. They will not hear the shot.

If you're talking about lots of bullets being fired on a range, then recoil will come into play. Of course, the shooter needs to be able to handle the recoil in case a follow up shot is needed.

I thought Genes .38 lightweight smith was a little firecracker also

You should try a .357 in the tiny little revolver. Thats what my mother-in-law carries though she shoots .38 +P's. Its bit interesting to shoot.
