My dad's such a goof. We've never been able to perfectly set up the hood latch on his Harwood hood. There have been a couple of times that the hood has popped up at 120+ on the highway. Both times, the safety catch caught the hood, but it's still a scary experience on a car this nice.

I had Dzus fasteners on my notch, but I had a couple of them pull loose as well. (hence the super cheesy vids of me going low tens with duct tape on the hood!)

Well, we talked about it and decided that hood pins probably are the way to go. Sure enough, my dad ordered a set of stainless steel FRPP pins and installed them Friday. He was pretty anxious to send me the pics! I think they look decent. I wonder if he intentionally left off the ring part that rivets to the hood? I'm pretty sure they came with the rings, but knowing my dad, he probably left them off because he doesn't want to detract from the body color.

Without further delay...

only problem with no rings is he WILL at some point scratch the paint around the pins... trust me I've been there then I put the the disk on

I called him last night and asked him about it...

He's SUPER anal about this car. (you can tell when you see it in person) His comment was that the rings that come with the pins have HUGE holes for the pins to go through. (almost like they expect you to mess up drilling the holes in the hood, so they make the holes big enough to compensate for that) Anyway, he said no way was he going to put those plates on with the huge holes... he's gonna have a friend of his that works at a machine shop cut him a new set of plates with a smaller hole to match the ones he cut in the hood.

One of his favorite quotes for this car is from Frank Lloyd Wright. (famous architect?) "God is in the details."

In addition to the large pin hole I did not like the fact that the plates have four screw holes. I will not use screws to attach them. They will not have screw holes and will be attached with double face tape.

I placed some cardboard plates on the hood temporarily until I get the plates!!!

How about using a very thin piece of clear Lexan?

See, that's what I said... he actually has a set of custom 5.0 emblems on the car that are made of clear vinyl. They're kinda hard to describe. They are about 1/16th of an inch thick and in the exact shape of the factory 5.0 emblems.... but they're clear. I mentioned making the rings out of that, but he found some stainless rings that fit nicer. I'll post pics when he gets them on!

Sharad... you were reading my mind! I was thinking about getting some made of the same "5.0 sticker" material. They would look very trick!
