We used to do that (as a kid, back in the stone ages) with the 17 year locusts. They would fly around until their leg fell off.

By the way Matt - that's a wood boring bee - not a bumble bee - they don't make honey and they don't have stingers - but the males bites and it still hurts like hell.

We used to do it with those little beetles you find in gardens when i was real young. No stinging hazard and you can string together like 10 of them and have yourself a blasty with'em.
