So does anyone here happen to know what a sock 5.0 fox body LX runs in a 1/4 mile. Stock as if it was back then now right off the dealer lot. we are talking 5 speed also.

Depending on driver and timing....around 14.0@97MPH +or- a couple tenths and MPH

Alot of variables to contend with, I think they were solid mid 14s. Did you go to the track this past weekend?

Don't EVER link a StangbangerS file on this site.

:flipoff: That guy created his site shortly after we got this one up......his site has survived because of all the people who mistype THIS SITE.

Pretty funny though right on the first page of that site, they list the Camaro running 16.1 vs. the Mustang's 14.8. That sounds almost right :D

I do beleive a stock 5.0L coupe with a great driver may even see a 13 second time slip.

For some reason I thought the later Fox body stangs averaged closer to 14.5's rather than the stories 14.8's with the GT's running a few tenths lower.

The 5.slow RS times are right on the story. A very pathetic TBI system on those cars instead of the better TPI.

I have a friend who has a stock 88 LX hatch that ran consistant 13.95's all day long. Nothing more that timing advanced, intake iced, right headlight removed and tire pressures lowered.

I have a drag test from 88 that posted a 14.00 right off the lot. It was a stripped down coupe, no PW PS DL RADIO or AC.

I agree with the 14.20-14.50 times for bone stock. I took a bone stock 89gt with a k&n panel filter, and 2-1/4" flomasters cut and welded into the stock cat back. 14 deg. timing and a short belt. It went 13.89 running m/t sportsman pro tires leaving on the rev limiter.

what could i see from a 88 with a catback? vert and a auto? somewhere in the 14's or low 15's

An automatic vert is going to be the slowest v8 car combo. That is probably going to be more like mid 15's.

...my car could use a diet

the pic of that LX 5.0 on that "other" site with the wheels off the ground was pretty darned cool tho!

I use to own JohnS's 86 Mustang (AOD) and with a few bolt on's and 3.73 gears it would only do a best of 15.25 then I put on a set of 65 289 heads I ported and polished, Stallion 2400 stall, 1.72 rockers, cobra intake, stock cam and went 13.0@105. I also found out 86's don't have valve reliefs so I got out the wizz wheel, shop vac and cut some in the pistons:lol: This was my daily driver and got 26 mpg.
