what else do u do with a rusty bug? hoodrod-it!! my first chop top ever.paid $300 for the car got it running i think after 20 years:) used 2 roofs and doors to chop it:confused: it should be dragging the fenders by the end of the weekend.you can really slam these cars to the ground for little to nothing.i kind of like it it don't have to be perfect neither and cheap as hell for parts.

yeah the old vw's are sweet. I have a homebuilt railbuggy with a super beetle motor as well as a 72ish super beatle stick. need to get it running and run umtr with it. been sitting for about 12 years not running. What all did you have to do to get it running chris?

narrowed the front suspension overall 4inches to tuck the front wheels way in,new bushings&brakelines tonight.try getting the rear down tommorow and get it back on the ground

4 rear fenders make for 2 BIG rear fenders.made some wide rear fenders using 2 pair of stock fenders, for a 4inch stretch turned out very nice! before and after pics

i'm back on it again,new floorpans(no mo flinstone) went to tombstone cycles picked up some lights to use as blinkers&running lights,came up with a cool way to mount them to the new headlight rings&lids.using 1939 ford taillghts did a little mocking up..

didn't care to much for how my first idea was about the front lights,wanted to do something alot more intricate so i recessed some lights using emblems as a decorative and added some lil led lights on the headlight rings looks so much better.now off to quiklx for some wiring:cool2: i wan't to be driving this thing in the next couple weeks

picked uip some seats $40 out of a nissan altima,and a roll of pepboys carpet,weeeeeeeee have some interior looks good from 10 feet anyway

got it taged&insured .got about 200 miles on the bug now,it's a blast to drive.after taking care of some suspension issues goes down the road nicely,all new brakes,tierod ends,shocks,wheelbearings,put an electronic distributer in it and rebuilt the carb today got the 2 barrel workin:) it stirs up alot of attention i can say that,every where you go you get a thumbs up:bigthumb a fun affordable project never the less

Looks REAL titties man. I think the bare look looks killer but the bullets need some love to make them match they look to new. Maybe flatblack the centers. Also some more track width(wheel spacers) on the rear whould look hot there is room. And a Cloth slider top would be cool (where the whole top slide open)

A buddy of mine has a bug in California with the dual dellorto carbs ,with no power adder and that car ripps low 12's 12:20's all day long. I can only imagine what a turbo on one of these little cars would do !! Looking good Chris.
