Seeing the Doc this afternoon..
About my hip, been limping a while, diagnosed a year and a half ago with bercitius (spelling)... a cortosone shot stopped the pain.. this year another cortosone shot no help.. Then they sent me for physical therapy, no help, got worst.. Then a catscan and guess what not bercitus but a bone spur  Ok can't operate.. they said a cortonse shot under x-ray was the answer. Got that last week, kind of helps, but could be a lot better...
Seeing the doc this afternoon... better have some more answers, or I may leave my shoe somewhere.. Then I'll really be limping.

A customer of mine supplies replacement knees and hips. I hope to never have to use his services but I could look up his number for you. He says they are the best available.
I will say a little prayer for you today. Hope to see you at the cruise in.

Hey Steve, best of luck. I hope you don't get steaks at the Ribber with spur marks still in them like I did.
You can have the Ribber, I'll stay with Ruth's Chris! Seriously, I do wish you the best.

I'm not sure what Bercitus or whatever it's called actually is. If it's something that could be fixed with a hip replacement, I'd suggest jumping right on that. I had a hip replacement when I was about 18, and it was one of the best decisions of my life.
The doc I used was Dr Francis Florez. He couldn't be a nicer guy, and he did a GREAT job. Other doctors said there would be almost no way I'd make it 10 years without another one, but here I am 10 years later and it still feels great.

Sounds the exact same as the crap they pulled with my mom. After about 5 years of being in so much pain she finally found a dr, that had a clue. She had a hip replacement and is 10 times better than before. She still has pain but it's no where near where it was.

Bursitis is an inflammation of the fluid filled sack that all of us have between bony prominences and muscle or other connective tissue. We have them in our hips, shoulders, knees, etc. No need for a hip replacement with true bursitis. Hip replacements are usually reserved for severe arthritis, trauma or congenital problems.
Bursitiis is usually treated conservatively with cortisone shots (anti-inflammatory), PT (for strengthening and stretching of the hip abductors/tensor fascia latae muscle) and modalities for pain (e-stim, ultrasound, cryotherapy).
Bone spurs are usually cleared up/removed via surgery. If they are inside of the joint space, a replacement may be warranted, but that is the call of the orthopedist and the patient.
FWIW, a bone spur can be produced by constant force on a bone (muscle pulling at attachment point) or by degenerative changes.
I'm sure Steve heard this from a Doc, but maybe not.
Good luck Steve from the resident ortho physical therapist.
