View Full Version : Drivetrain Bucking and Lurching.... ???

When driving my 91GT (w/T5) at slow speeds, the drivetrain occasionally starts lurching and bucking. This typically happens around 5-10MPH in while in 2nd gear and around 10-15MPH in 3rd gear.
The U-joints are good and tight as are the transmission/motor mounts. A local mechanic blames low gears (3.73s) that are in it.
What could be causing this ??

I've experienced the same type of problem in mine. 3.73s and a dual friction Centerforce. Didn't do it before the gear swap 5 years ago so I blame the gear. But I guess it could be a combo of both.

Both mine do it too. I had the rears assembled and set up by professionals one by Gary Rohe and one by Goulds Motorsports, I had to alter my driving style and stay in lower gears at slower speeds. I never even shift into 5th unless I'm on the freeway now. I think it's normal.

It's normal.....I think I've had that on every manual tranny car I've ever owned.
If the car has gears or a aftermarket clutch, it's usually more "visible".
