Ok i got this 94 mustang and i pulled out the computer because i was follwingg some wires from a switch. Well there was a "chip" plugged into the top of it eec-iv i think it said had wires running from it to a switch but it didnt seem to do anything. I removed it car still ran the same any ideas?

prolly some sort of Piggy-back chip like a Hypertech or something...and before i read the thread, i was gonna guess Dorito!
Sounds like one of the old Autologic chips. But if you post a photograph I'm sure someone on here can ID it for certain.

ill take a pic tom. but i looked at it again and on he back it says eec-iv autologic 2001. Has 4 wires running from it 1 red and 3 black spliced into a turn knob switch. No idea what this chip does.

Diablo made flip chips also, but I am pretty sure they used a toggle type switch.

would anyone suggest putting it back in? like i said im not sure if it even does anything but i guess it might be there for a reason.

What kind of mods are done to the car? With a lot of the older chips, especially on a relatively stock EEC-IV car, the chip doesn't do much more than make the car idle properly.

If this is on a 94/95 car. Put it back in. Most of the chips for those years fixed the factory tunes like pulling timing during shifts.

Sounds like an SCT switch chip... if you'd like I can snap a pic of mine and post it.

ill take a pics of mine mine is a little diffrent lookin plastic peice attaches to the top of the computer i dunno we'll see if someone cabn identify it.
