air pump delete

looking at cleaning things up under the hood of the wifes car (92 lx 5.0 convertable) do i need to use an air pump delete pulley of can i just remove it and run a shorter belt. and if so does anyone know the length of the belt.. she wants to keep the a/c but i am also trying to talk her out of that too.

do the string thing to get it in the ballpark then take the car to the parts store before removing the smog pump. Get one that fits and then remove the pump.
A little hint: make sure the belt goes from the alt to the crank. If you double it back to the waterpump it might rub itself.
