My wife's car is an 01 BMW 530i. I bought a Magnaflow muffler online that
20+ other members of bimmerfest have installed on their cars with no trouble. I've taken it to Carx and another small shop here in West Chester and they tell me they can't bend a pipe to fit, although the muffler is clearly working fine on other people's cars. I think these shops just want a cut and weld job and this isn't it. A pipe will have to be bent to make it fit (I have photos of it installed on other cars)....

I think what it is... is they just dont want to fool with it.:HYF:

Any recommendations? I need to get this done this week...

If you can wait on it a bit longer, I can do it for you. Click the link in my sig and you'll see some exhaust work/ general fab work that I do.

At the moment my car is immoble, so I can't do it in my garage. I would say I could do it outside, but I don't think I woudl be comfortable, or you would be comfortable with me doing it outside considering it is a 530i. I could do it that way, and I could do it whenever its nice outside. Or to wait till indoors, maybe a month or two.

Kevin, I'd like to get it done before then...

The install really needs a pipe bender as well.

Or skills with mandrel bends and a welder.......

If you get it done with a pipe bender, and its a tight bend, its going to be highly kinked/crushed. Nobody in the area/tristate has a mandrel bender to my knowledge.

I thought Tri-State Muffler does?

Call Rigid (since they're a site sponsor) or go to Tri-State Muffler over at Cheviot and Galbraith. Tri-State did some custom exhaust work for my buddies 01 M3 and they did a great job!:bigthumb

He's running a race header, converter delete, offroad mid-pipe, and a race catback on the back end.....sounds pretty bad-ass and he picked up some power too!!!

Kirk and Blum(sp) has one

Kirk and Blum does not have one to my knowledge. My dad works there, and I have been there countless times. I have never seen such a machine. I'm sure my dad would know about the machine, as he has worked there for over 20 years. Do you work there? What is your name if so.

My buddy Jim works there and he told me he could get me some pieces made so I assumed they have one. If not someone around does that they deal with. I work formyself building torque converters I deal with them often getting specialty parts made.

I asked my dad about it. They definately don't have a mandrel tube bender.

Ryan muffler in Florence does alot of custom work, not to for sure about what they have/use. They have done exhaust for a few people I know and seem to do good work.

Thanks for all the replies. I was in the area of Tri-state yesterday and stopped in to see what they had to say. Rob wasn't the most talkative guy and I could tell he didn't want to do it right there and then but he made time and had it done in about 20 minutes...

I was just doing a search on exhaust shops in the area... since I just redid my exhaust setup. Long tube headers, off road h and super 44s, but I need the pipes over the axles done. Ive dealt with tristate for years for custom work and standard stuff. I call yesterday and they say they cant bend the pipe over the axle... WTF, you guys did a custom dual exhaust job on mine 6 years ago. They said the just order the pipes prebent from magnaflow for 180 each.. F that.

I spoke to Rob, the owner a few weeks ago before I had fully made up my mind on my exhaust setup and he gave me a quote on redoing the tail pipes.... I assume they just dont wanna do it, now.
