I think I have 175Lb front springs on my car now. I'm curious to what an ideal spring pres would be. The car is about 3300 lbs race weight,It currently has lakewood 70/30's on it,probably going to switch to strange adlustables. Rear springs are moroso trick w.adj qa1 rear shocks. I usually run etstreets at the track.

I'm trying to find out if 125 or 150 lb spring would help the car launch better.

What is your motor/power adder combo? If you have less weight on the front end (like a 8.2" deck n/a/nitrous motor) then you may want to switch to a lighter spring rate..125-150. A heavier combo..like a blown 9.5" deck motor will need a stiffer spring..like a 175-200. I started out using the 175# springs that cam with my coilover kit on my coupe...60's were off and the car wouldn't even pull the left front tire on launch. Swapped to a set of 120#...60's came back and much more consistant....yanked the tires hard again.

I'd try a 14" set of 125-150# springs then.

Jeff pretty much summed it up. I will say that if your car sees any street time, unless your car is very light in the front I would stay away from the 125s and go with the 150s.

I think I'll go with the 150's. What about the strange adj. struts? Anyone using them, opinions welcomed

I just got the strange struts and shocks over the winter. I can't comment to much as I have only been to the track once, but I am pretty sure they are going to work out pretty well.

Brian, I have a set of 150s I can let you try if you want. Let me know. As said, you should most likely need something in the 125-150 range. The Strange adj. struts work pretty well and will give you some tuning room. I know several guys who run them. They aren't as nice as a set of double adj. AFCOs or something of the like, but, they are a very good strut for the money.

I have 14 /130s they are a little boncey on the street but i just stiffen my struts up and loosen it up when i go to the track . But i have a 408 with a 331 i would strart with 130s and go from there . With light 302 based motors i have seen them down to 90 . Less spring rate more stored energy !

Well, I went to jegs today and picked up some 150's and strange adj. struts, that along with changing to moroso trick rear springs will hopefuly help my 60's a little bit.

Saw this and wanted to get some opinions... switching to coilovers and wanted to know what ya think I should go with? 150 seems to be the answer but here is the combo: DSS 306, GT40P heads, explorer intake, tubular k member/ a arms.

Thanks,

Brandon

Daily driver 89 notch, stock block nothing special.Had 14'' 220# on there for about two weeks,I took someones advice and bought them first.Car rode like a freakin tank,Went out and got some 12'' 175# and put it right where i wanted it.First track run will be in the spring with the DSS 331 setup,Eddy alum' heads and tubular k-member..Should i stick with the 175's or go lower?
