Anyone have a hookup on truck rental?

I need a pretty good sized box truck with a liftgate on it.

You could always try a roll back. That is what mechanics usually use when they have to move their big ass toolboxes. Just another idea.

I know Kevin has an appliance dolly if that would help you get it to the truck.

this thing is too big for either.

I know someone on here has to know someone who works for Ryder or someplace.

have you called to make sure their liftgates will support it? I know most 24ft trucks have a lift gate but I don't know the max on them. Might have to rent a forklift too :D

Did you get a good deal on the safe? What are you going to fill it with?

Appliance dolly not strong enough. Atleast not Uhauls when I moved my small/meium sized gun safe, but it is firelined.

When I bought my safe, then later moved it, Re-Lo in Fairfield would let you borrow one, just had to sign for it. Sad to seem them got out of business.

I have a dolly that will hold 2000+ lbs. My dad worked for north american van lines so it is heavy duty. I recently used it to move a 1200lb gun safe from Bass Pro to my buddys house.

How heavy is this safe? Get the make and model and I will see what I can find.

We used a Liftgate Ryder truck to move it into our basement about 10 years ago. It was a heavy duty airbrake truck and that liftgate gave all it could to get it up. This thing is about three times the size of the one Mista Bone posted in the above pic. It has huge double doors, and Id say it weighs around 5000lbs.
Like I said, it was a jewlers safe, so its a bad motha of a gun safe!

Im guessing we'll have to rent a Ryder or Enterprise truck to move it, Im just hoping someone on here could help us find a decent deal or heck, just get me a phone number of a local place to rent something.

I'll be sure to snap a few pics when we move this monster.:bigthumb

My company uses enterprise and ryder for our truck rentals. To get a lift gate that will hold that kind of weight you will more than likely need to get a 24' box truck. I think the gates are rated at 1500 or 2000lbs.

I would do a roll back w/ some heavy duty furnature dolleys. Wish I could hook you up with Budget but its hard to get a discount unless you own the shop renting them out or work for Budget. Good luck though.

Rollback with winch........

2.5 tons on a liftgate = possible wheelie and then huge dent into the pavement.

Make sure to film it :)

I bought all my reloading supplies and safe from RE-LO in Fairfield, bought all my handguns from Gary's Guns. Never got into bow's. I have shot a compound bow a few times, but it was left hand setup and I shot it right hand.

Bowstring vs. nose = kickmeinthenutsthathurts!

The Owner of RE-LO I believe lived near Triple Creek park in Colerain Twp. just off Pippin Road and I-275.

I've bought all my handguns from one shop, most of my reloading suppies from another, and alot of my car parts from Craig.

I've been past Jegs on 11th Ave the past two weekends, this weekend will be the third, I just can't see stopping in there unless I need the part ASAP.

Thanks Cracker :)

We got this safe moved last evening. It took a total of 6 hours, four people, a liftgate Penske truck and a lot of gut wrenching stress.
The truck we used had a pretty small liftgate rated at 2000 lbs. Id say this safe weighs in at over 3500 lbs. easy. It was made by Mobler safe co. in Hamilton OH probably in the 1920's or '30's. You can still see the Richter & Phillips name on the double doors.

Here is a pic of the truck we used...

Here a few shots of the safe as we moved it out of the basement and through the garage door...

Another scary part of this job is that the driveway is kinda sloped to one side, so we had to stack some landscaping bricks under the pass. side of the truck and then back the truck up onto the blocks...oh and did I mention that it was pouring down rain the entire time we were moving this thing. Wet slippery diamond plate and heavy ocward objects = scary!

finally on the liftgate!

The smokey blurs in the next pics are from all the moisture in the air I guess.
Since we allmost doubled the capacity of the liftgate with this thing, it bowed consiterably to the rear. In order to keep the safe from doing a backflip off of it, we rachet strapped it to the back of the truck and took it up littlt by little, re adjusting the straps as we went up.

http://pic40.picturetrail.com/VOL366/1161904/16096140/246002684.jpg

unloading it was a lot easier because we were on level ground. We just took it down slowly and readjusted the straps every couple inches. I was so scared that liftgate was gonna let go and someone would get crushed by this damn safe, but it held up and we got it done.
