Best fluid for a T-5

My T-5 in the pile could use a rebuild but I am going to try to adjust the clutch and change the fluid. What should I use? I was told just drain it, and add 2.5 quarts ATF. Anything better out there?

I was told that Redline MTL (manual tranny lube) was really good, but all i know is dont go with ANYTHING castrol.... too many bad experiences...

Royal purple synchromax! Mine took a little more than 2.5 quarts!

the factory fluid is dextron III. I have always run that in the t-5s that I have owned with no problems that the fluid could have caused.

For now, I would just go with a name brand fluid. Wait till you are ready to start beating it at the track and looking for every tenth before going with the high dollar stuff.

I run redline in the trans and royal purple in the rear end.

Well, the fluid is draining right now. I have a manual and it says drain for at least 10 minutes. I have 3 quarts of dextron 3 trans fluid.
I took out the top plug and checked the level. Nothing. It was low. No leaks but it was low. When I took out the drain plug, OMG the fluid shot out all over the passenger header collector. It got all over the o2 sensor as well. What a mess.

Well, I am going to let the pile drain over night and fill it tomorrow. I will have more time to work on it then.

Just filled the pile with fluid and the battery won't start the motor. I am going to leave it till tomorrow.
