i'd like to try to do a few of the events,
my wife said she wouldn't mind coming if we had an enclosed trailer her and the girls could be in,
i know holman sells em new, anyone else around here sell em, anyone know about any used ones around
my expy has an 8600lb max towing, so i know the car is around 3400-3500 lbs, so weight is an issue as well, not really sure what they weigh

Depends on what size and budget. Haulmark has a full allum.frame option on the Edge model but I'm sure its pricey. I just got a 24FT Edge and I think it is 4500lb.

The Grassroots Motorsports magazine usually have a large section of used trailers for sale for prices that seem good.

I have a 24' Pace GT - it's been a great trailer, not overly heavy. The used enclosed trailers hold their value quite well.

to get something i'd like, your looking at around 11-13k, just seems ridiculous for something i won't use that much
american trailer has some nice open 18' wood for like $2495 and a 20' metal one for like $3200
of course i could go with a 20' enclosed for like $5400 at the same time, just not all fancied up,
i have no clue what to do,
whats the pros and cons to the open trailers of wood vs metal?

Wood rots, metal rusts. Hahah.

If it would help you out I would be willing to use your trailer once you get it. Then it would be used all the time and that would justify you getting one.
Just trying to help

X2! We bought out 18' open MacLander up there. It is like the Cadillac of open car haulers. They have some enclosed too. You can use mom's name... Cathy Storn.
What is the "expy" an Expedtion? I would have a hard time talking myself into hauling a 20'+ enclosed trailer behind an Expedition.

it's rated at 8600lbs, trailer is 4k, car is 3400, that gives me 1200 to spare and i have a weight distribution hitch, so it should tow it fine

i'm going nuts now, just got alum trailers thrown into the mix, lol
this is driving me nuts
i ain't got a clue,
the place in harrison has a black 28' for like 7k otd, but i'm still thinking for the amount of time i'd use it, it's just too much
i like the idea of the alum or steel as they have longer ramps and removable fenders
the 20' steel is like 3200, the 18' alum is $3600, but the alum doesn't rust and it's almost 1000lbs lighter whcih means better towing

Beef if you want an open trailer you should look at my open. Its a steel deck 18 ft road clipper sold at smith. The ramps are under the back and slide out so you don't have to pick them up off the side & they won't fall off and no one can steal them. It is about 1800lbs and tows great. The ramps are wide and you don't have to worry about getting them lined up with your tires. The dove tail and how low it sits low are the best part(you can put a low car on it with out to much hassel). Its in eastgate if you want to see it(save you a trip to smith).Smith's #is(513)755-6737. I'll p.m. you my # in case you want to look at mine.

I got my 18' steel deck trailer at six pine trailers out here by Batesville. It has all the options I wanted. It sits low with a beaver tail, the ramps slide out the back, It has 4 ring hooks, and brakes on all four wheels. It was $1750 new in 2002
Take a look. They also have enclosed, and open alum. ones.
