My car has been doing this since I got it tuned. More so now that the weather is warmer. When I start the car,the RPM's climb to 3,000 and stay there for about 10 seconds, then drop to normal. This seems a little unhealthy to me for the engine, not to mention it really pisses the neighbors off! Is this normal for a car with a custom tune??

I don't know who tuned your car, but I would ask them. Hope you get it sorted out.

My 97 does it somewhat but Ken has been able to tone it down through the tune. It used to be alot worse.

He fixed my 03 Cobra, it had the same issue.

Now here his my main question: Isn't this like dry starting the car? Does the oil pump have enough time to pump oil into the engine before the RPMs sky rocket?? And if I take it back and have them tone it down is that gonna lower the amount of horsepower its putting down??

Turning the idle up or down won't effect your HP.
I think it will be a little tougher on your engine jumping up that high at start up. I'd go get it fixed.

Do you have CMCP deletes? It's very common for it to happen with the delete plates. It can easily be tuned out.
