I'm running a crank-trigger MSD system (with Digital 6 plus) - but carbed.

whats the advantage of a crank trigger over a Distributor that has the pickup in it?

Switched to a crank trigger, picked up 38HP on the dyno.

Mostly accuracy and response. The distributor is connected to the dist. gear is connected to the cam shaft is connected to the timing chain is connected to the timing gears is connected to the crank.........you get the picture.

Ok guys, I've got an aluminum zero balance balancer and I dont want to buy the innovators west unit. I'm going to pick up a msd crank trigger setup. What did you guys do for belt alignment after the trigger was installed? Did you guys with TFI's mod the dizzy, or run the Dual sync distributer?

I've had to use a modified crank pulley. You can probably have a machine shop machine the 3/8" or so off of the pulley.

As far as the distributor, you can either use a TFI dizzy with a pickup tapped into it and 7 of the tabs cut off of the reluctor wheel, use an MSD-style magnetic pickup dizzy with 7 of the tabs broken off, or pick up a dual-sync and just use the cam-sync part of it, which would be a pretty big waste of money.

You have any pictures of the modified crank pulley? I have set of billet aluminum pullies, but the crank pulley is the race pulley and is very very small, so since I'm not sure what is done to modify them, I'm not sure if this one will work. I also already have an accel billet TFI dizzy, but I'd rather sell it and use a stocker rather than modify this one. I talked to a guy who worked for Accel and he said after seeing all the dual syncs returned, he wouldn't run one in his lawnmower, so I'm just trying to figure out my options.

No, no pictures. Sorry. I think either removing the crank trigger wheel thickness from the pulley, or using different accessory brackets are about your only options.
