Website Hosting Question

I am thinking about starting my own website for my job. This would be the best money spent and get me a lot of candidates.

I was wondering what are some good places to host the website and what should it typically run? I have been looking at a lot of places for $5.95 a month and didn't know if that was average or not.

Any help is greatly appreciated!
