A couple buddys of mine were talking about our firsr car we drove to high school. I was a pretty cool topic, so what did all you Stangbangerz drive as a first car. My first car was a 1967 Mustang coupe 289, 4spd but i never got to drive it. Sold it and bought a 1989 Turbo GTA. I know extremely rare car but I destroyed it hot rodding it when I was 16. LOL!

I had a '72 Camaro RS as my first car. Gave up looking for a mostly rust free 60's Mustang and the price was right on the Camaro. (this was back in 84) It had a 2bbl 350 motor with 2.73 open diff. Jus added a performer intake, Holley 600 and headers to drop it 1.5 seconds to 15.00. Didn't do to much after that.

i was supposed to inherit a damned old 75 AMC (Aint My Car..lol) hornet WAGON!! it was bronze colored with woodgrain on the sides with an inline 6. i sure am glad i was able to talk the old man into trading it off (waay back in 1986) on a sweet 78 mustang II.

62 ford fairlane with a straight 6. My grandparents buy all their kids their first car when they're 15. I wanted a V8 and my grandad said that if the engine ever blew, we could put a look into getting a V8. Eventually it went and by the time I turned 17, it had a 301 out of a 71 mustang. Its all been down hill since then.

1973 Ford Maverick. White with black interior. Inline 250 six cylinder and a C4.

Bought from my Great Grandmother when I was 15 for $1000.

For the next four years Kevin Schaber and myself worked our asses off on that car. We took it to a lot of car shows. That was the first thing I ever went down the drag strip in. I was hooked! It was only a 16 or 17 second car but I had such a blast. I retired it my Senior year to a barn. As soon as the Tangelo5oh project is finished, I will pull out the Maverick. ;)

My first car was in 1983, I was getting ready to graduate high school and I found a 72 mustang that was for sale for 2000.00 It was bad ass . I fell in love with it right away. It was red with (back then cool) glass packs on the exhaust. it sounded cool and it was beautiful. I had to have it so dad co- signed and she was mine. I had that car for 8 years, and I wish I still had it.It had one mean little 302 in it that would scream and I wasnt afraid to put her to the floor. MEMORIES.:D :D :D :D

Hi
I started on the dark side.... '57 chev... it was fun. Had a 6 in it and my brother and I pulled it and put a 283 in it... thought we were tough. Did our own body work and had it painted... My brother wrapped it around a pole. Memories.. We went out to a bar off Colerain which was way out in those days. We had a car full of friends and they sevred anyone :D... When we left John took a left and ended up driving down the front drainage ditch  It was ok til we came to a bridge..... then had to called a tow truck 3am on a friday night... :D Had no money, spent it all on beer... he took our spare to hold til we paid....

Damn we were lucky.. our parents never did find out:lol:

I was a Mopar guy. I blame it on my Dad. He got me a 1973 plymouth satalite 4 door. 318 2 brl, auto. I remember flying down route 8 in Ky with 7 of my closest friends packed in like sardines. Litterally beat the car to death and progressed to a 1973 Charger. Had big plans for that one. Did most of it but waited to do the body and it rotted out from under me. I had the bubble hood with the flip up air door, built 360, 727 auto, sure grip 8 3/4 with 3.23s. Went 14.40s at 96mph at edgewater right off the highway with way too much stereo stuff in the trunk. Sold it for 2500.

I'm glad I got into cars in about 1980 when the Mustang broke it all back open. I've always been a GM person, mostly 70's Skylarks......but I still have a desire (INSANE?) for a MII Cobra/King Cobra.

Love/Hate relationship, I hated working on that car, but love the memories with the hatch open, backseat laid down and a GF in the back :)

'72 F100 pickup with cab mounts so rusted out, when you turned a corner, it would shift out of gear (column shift). My mom never let me drive that one once she found out how unsafe it was! Technically my first car was one Dad gave me; a '80 Camaro with a seized 350 and a pile of parts that he called a 350 from a '78 Z28.

That was when I was ~14... didn't know anything about wrenching let alone swapping engines.

The first car I bought and drove was my '78 Pinto Wagon, 2.3L 2 barrel carb with a 4spd manual.
