Give my Buddy Tim a call. He used to work for Cincinnati door opener. He's really cheap, and damn good. 513-284-4104. :bigthumb , Mike

i would call someone. I have seen these springs break arms, & split skulls.
they have an unbeleivable amount of stored energy when under tension!
they can be changed out w/o a service call, but if you do it, PLEASE be CAREFUL!

I used to work on these type of doors about 20 years ago. Its not something you want to try by yourself. Pay a pro to do it right.

Wow I helped my husband change out both springs on ours last summer. I didnt realize it was that dangerous. It all worked out ok for us. Thank God nobody lost a body part.

We just had one break at our shop. I would not want to work on a spring like that. So much energy stored and concidering it broke once, it could break again. It should be replaced by a professional.

yeah... im going to pay someone.....

I have installed these before the danger is the tools used to wind the spring up are two rods when you wind it up you hold one in place then make a turn then hold the other one switching positions turning the spring if you slip or the rod is not in all the way the spring will throw the rod real hard and hurt you the spring itself wont do any damage when they break they are going to make alot of noise I have the tools to do it if your wanting to try it on your own price out the labor cost then price out the price of just the spring itsef. I dont now what they charge to install the spring
