The new chief is a good friend of mine and worked there for years. Tom is going to make that department one of the best suburban agencies around - and he has good taste in cars and equipment to boot! He is proud of it all let me tell ya!!!

have to say the chargers look badass no doubt. But i wouldn't want one as my patrol car no thanks. Cageless maybe. But at 6'2" the crown vic has me cramped with the cage. Charger is just too small.

I bet they fall apart once the cops start driving them over curbs and through ditches at 50 MPH. Chysler cars and severe duty durability just don't go hand and hand.

but you dont hit 50 mph in newtown. and I think that they are all v6 powered. so they will save a little money at the pump.

It's just the standard 3.5L V6. They may have modded the PCM for no limits or some crap, but I doubt they modified much from standard production.
Outside of the normal brakes that get absolutely killed, transmissions will be the biggest mechanical part that breaks down with any regularity. Electronics, the jury is still out. It could end up being any of modules on the bus that go bad.

I know In dependence has at least one Dodge Charger for a cruiser. Not sure what model it is though.

Actually the chargers have more room. I'm good friends with the guys on third shift, they are a good group of guys. Tom, I only seen him once. The chargers do look cool.

not even close. we got 15 chargers and the all went to the detective bureau due to to size constraints. I sat in one with no cage and no computer mount and was comfortable. Stuff a cage and computer mount in there no thank you. I'll keep my crown vic

The V6 charger and the V8 crown vic both have 250HP. The crown vic probably has a torque advantage but I bet not by a whole lot

If a high speed chase ever happen in Newtown, radio ahead as they'd be out of Newtown in about 30-40 seconds!

I work in Independence and am friends with most of the cops. They have a few of them and the guys love it. They are badass looking cars. Here they have the V6 and most the guys say that they run good. They get much better gas mileage and are cheaper than the crown vics. The next town over is getting one with the Hemi and they said overall it is only like 800 bucks more than the crown vic and gets better gas mileage even with the Hemi.
