i have a PI swap to do and i want to put cams in the heads while they're off the car but what would be the best overall for street and "some" track. i have no idea how to read the flow and duration of cam specs vs. the cfm of air the heads flow so i figured i ask you guys.

So basically im asking what are nice sounding nice flowing cams for Pi heads. Which would improve me the most without idle issues

If this is something thats going to get driven on a regualr basis I would look at a set of Comp 262's. It will have just a little bit of lope at idle and will give you the best driveability. Moontang has them in his car and seems to love them.

262s have been in a lot of cars and work pretty good. you won't be dissapointed with them.

its a summer car so it'll be driven then. but if 262's are the way to go then sounds fine by me. Also can anyone teach me said formula to read duration with exhaust intake ect ect id like to know how to read the cams

If its more of a toy than a daily driver then you could go with a bigger set of cams. I have seen good results on PI swapped cars with VT stage 2 cams.

Duration is your biggest indicator of how the cam will work with your car. Look at the .050" numbers, not the advertised numbers. Lobe seperation angle LSA determines how much overlap or time that both valves are open simultaneously. An LSA of 114 or so with .050 duration numbers of 220 will idle nicely and have good vacuum. 230 range has a rougher idle, makes power at higher rpm, 240 range is very rough idle, poor low speed response higher hp at higher rpm's, etc. 215 is about a stock profile. Hope this helps.

Here are the specs on the stock PI cams. The Non-PI cams are less aggressive.
