Awesome.....

.... but what's in front of Pi? Is it an "i" or a number?

Am I the only dork trying to calcualte the check's value? He's up to 1.002 + (e^something * pi)

You can't figure it out. There is no definition of n. Is it days from when he writes the check till they cash it? Hmmmm. Not that it matters, it'll be really small anways. Hahahahahah

Actually n is defined... from 1 to infinity. The summation of [1 / (2 ^ (n from 1 to infinity)] = 1. Then you've got the 0.002, e = 2.71828182845904 and pi = 3.14159265358979. So it all comes down to whats in front of pi. If that is a 1, then the check's value is about $24.14.

I wonder if Verizon tried to cash it.

And to think I took Calc 1-4, diff eqns, and matrix methods. Damn Matlab killing my skillz. Hahaha.

I give that check a geek-factor of 10 out of 10!

(as an accountant, I really know geekiness when I see it)

This is Andrea, I'm a complete dumbass.... how may I help you today?

I love the "it's obviously a difference of opinion" and "I'm not a mathematician"- actually you are not even capable of elementary school math.

As for the check, you guys are right, there's no definition of the i in the e exponent.

It has been too many years since I took Calc, but isn't the i with a line over it a known value? I remember a i with a carat over it or something...

it equals $0.002. e^(pi*i) = -1 and the sumation equals 1.

so 0.002 + -1 + 1 = 0.002
