Looking for a new intake manifold anyone know what the choices are for a 2002 GT N/A? So far i think the one im gonna get is the typhoon intake

heard the typhoon is not so good.
What are you plans for the car. supposedly BBK has one coming out soon.
Here is another option that I would go with over the typhoon. HP is american made Typhoon is made in China. Chinese metal is not held to the same standards that metal used in the states is. So the possibility of cheaper aluminium in the intake is a concern of myself.

I have seen no results from these intakes other than what the manufacturers state. Which I never go by they are always inflated one way or another. If you end up getting one please post up some results. I have a NPI motor and getting ready to do a PI intake swap. Not sure if i am going to keep the plastic or switch to one of the metal ones. Sure wish BBK would get their intake out they did a lot of great stuff for the 5.0.

Josh I have a book I am reading with dyno back ups. The best one for a 2V besides the PI is a P51 all the way. The P51 showed inprovement in both HP at TQ through the graph. And if you put on a supercharger down the road the intake will be better since it flows more and has been design to balance the gains.

The trick flow piece isn't exactly a bullitt copy. There are suppose to be some nice improvements of the ford part. I know they straightened out the number 5 intake runner. There is some questin though as to whether or not a supercharger will fit on the front of it.

I love mine and now the price has dropped as well...there are also used ones popping up now, keep your eyes peeled over on the depot.

The P51 wont fit my car with my hood i dont have a cowl hood...the trickflow one looks good but would it fit and where would the upper plentium go and would my 70mm throttle body work with it or would i have to get a bigger one

you can make the P51 fit. Just keep slamming the hood down til it forms a custom groove then hood pin it

I bought the typhoon and paid the extra for the polished one. It was not exactly what i expected. I was a little disappointed in the polishing department but it did help the car a bit although it was not what they advertise it to be. I guess one plus to the manifold is that you can disassemble the bottom half for easy port work. I would hold out for the newer intakes to see what they have to offer.

Trick flow is not available yet per Summit even though its in the catalog...and you would not be able to use your throttle body. If you don't want to change your hood go with the Typhoon, you can get it in polished and we all know how much you like shiny things.

that trick flow looks like a nice peice.
Hoping i can just use some NPI to PI adapter plates and for the intake but will have to look into it a little more.

you can do it like most of us do it and just put the PI on the NPI heads many have done it with no problems. if you do the plates then it will raise the intake up and you may need a different hood. Livernoise sells the plates with its PI conversion but the intake itself is cut down to fit under stock hood.
as for the Typhoon its basically a looks thing. they do leave room to port which is a good idea to do since the gains aren't very much NA. mabey an extra 15 or so PA but I haven't seen any engine dyno #s yet. I don't think they really improved on the PI with the cross sections and the angels of the runners.

if i had that much money and knew where to get a hood from then i would prolly say yea. did that come with the bottom part of the intake cuz i didnt see it

it comes with upper/lower, shorter fuel rails and everything else to hook it up.

You already have a throttle body and an elbow just get the Typhoon intake and save your self some money. With some additional porting or having the Typhoon extrude honed it would be fine for your car, anything is better than the plastic one...

don't think a new hood is needed with the HP plates

it might be the strut tower bar then. I know livernoise cuts their PI intakes inorder to use the transer plates and still allow it to fit in stock measurments.

what are you wanting to do to the engine. you need to match your flow with your cams and your cams with your power band. dont just put stuff on the engine hoping that it will all work it self out. think and take your damn time.

From what I understand the Bullitt intake require quite a few extra parts to bolt it on. I am not sure that everything that you need is included in that auction. I am pretty sure you would at least need to buy a new alternator.

No this is the pro products one. They are both basic copies of the PI intake with re-worked runner design. Both preform within a few % of each other and are both good products.

Called trickflow right now, and .....pushed back to June.
Can you believe it?
There are also rumors going around that it won't work with a centrifugal supercharger because of a reverse mounted alternator. Hopefully you can shed some light on that.
