HEAVY SNOW WARNING.

We'll see. If it starts snowing at 11:30, like they are saying, I am out of here, half day of vacation baby! WOO HOO!

This place will let us leave an hour early and think they are doing us a favor. I'm not waiting around for the class to be dismissed.

UPDATE: They told us to leave whenever we want today (BONUS) but we have to either use vacation time, personal time, or make up the time, by Friday. I have 21 days of vacation, so not a problem!

This is ridiculous. It's not that bad out. Yeah, there's a little bit of ice and the roads aren't totally clear, but I made it home from work in a 390hp rwd car (with snow tires on it) without a problem. People in this town freak out at the littlest bit of snow. My concern isn't my driving, it's all the other morons who don't know how to handle this weather. I saw at least a dozen cars skidding under braking...if you can't modulate a brake pedal, you shouldn't be allowed to drive. Everybody in this town needs to spend a winter in Detroit (insert Mista comment here ;)) or Chicago to see what real winter weather is like.

My boss made me leave too. Which sucks because I had a ton of stuff I needed to get done today.

Meanwhile,

UC sent an email saying this....

The weather forecast has raised questions about the possibility of an emergency closing today.

We are monitoring the situation closely and, based on all current available facts, we plan to remain open as scheduled.

However, administrative heads at their discretion may allow employees to leave early in order to reduce congestion on the roadways, especially during rush hour. Hourly employees who have gained permission from their supervisor to leave early must charge the additional hours of absence to accrued compensatory time, accrued vacation time or leave without pay, in that order (See Board Rule 30-16-01). Exempt employees who leave early with permission must use accrued vacation time.

The university community will be notified later if conditions warrant an emergency closing.

My wife said it took her over an hour to get off base because people couldn't grasp the idea of taking turns. The drive home from mason wasn't great but it could have been worse. Getting nearly blown off the road by an 80,000 lbs. tanker full of gas doesn't give me a warm fuzzy feeling though. I made my way slowly north. Even with snow tires on teh SRT4 it wasn't great. Too bad the wife had he Grand Cherokee...now that would have been fun. :D

I only get paid if I'm working. No Work = No Money. Plus I have a couple of stacks of files on my desk about a foot high that I need to get through, and I need software that's on my desktop in the office to work on them, so I can't work from home.

I don't like unplanned days off...all it means is that I'll probably wind up having to go into the office on Saturday to get caught up.

I just looked at a shot of one of the highways (71, 75?) on channel 12's website and it was still a parking lot at 8:40. If I wouldn't have left when I did I would probably just kept on working through the evening and taken tomorrow off after the highways are cleared. I just saw that Greene County is under a level 2 snow emergency...that sounds like a good reason to stay home, but I will probably go to work anyway tomorrow being the dedicated employee I am. :(

Left for work @ 5:00, ran my route and just got home.

2.5 hours turned into 6.5 hours......watch atleast a dozen SUV's spin out trying to be "MACHO 4X4" driver.

Lucky my three KY pickups called in, so I didn't have to go past Milford. I canceled Glenway because it ALL uphill to get there. I didn't wanna run my route, but my boss the route can only be canceled if a Level 3 snow emergency is called.

BTW, he makes the 13th SUV that owned himself :)

FWD Honda with treadbars showing and I had little problems, just be patient and calm.

Beer never tasted so good and a nice neighbor used his snowblower on mom's driveway......THANKS!
