Just pondering an idea and have a few questions. first off how hard is a carburated 4 valve to tune? Is somthing like this going to work and be worth it or is it just going to be a pita. Thanks for any input i cant seem to find anything on the internet and any links would be greatly appreciated thanks

Ryan

I don't think it would be a big deal. I think Shawn Johnson ran a carb'd mod motor in NMRA before he bought Ian Mullane's cobra to run factory stock.

I saw a carbed intake for a 5.4 a while back but i didn't bookmark the link. I think it's a badass idea....the perfect blend of old and new.

shouldn't really be any harder to tune than any other carb'ed motor accept for the ignition portion. I think MSD makes a set up for it though so you can keep the distributorless ignition.

The cool part about the 5.4 intake i saw is that since there's that huge valley where the intake runners usually are on the stock intake, there's a huge opening down there and the runners ran almost straight into/up from the heads to the carb, literally like a spider's legs, and then the coil packs were mounted UNDER the intake/carb and the wires ran around from the heads to the back of the intake for a super clean look.

Just imagine what you could do with a fogger set up on an intake like that. :D
